About Us and Our Work

The owner of Glassdogs, Don Anderson, has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since the mid-1980s.  His interest in the art of stained glass soon followed,  and the two passions merged into this unique business.

A native Missourian, Don earned a degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, with a major in photography.  His eye for composition and color are evident in his original designs proudly displayed on this website.

The pet memorial glasswork is an adaptation of an ancient mosaic art called tesserae, which translates into tiles. The head study of the pet is cut from a special fusible glass, and arranged on an oval disc of similar glass, then a rainbow of powdered glass is added.  The entire piece of art is fired in a kiln, where the head study and rainbow fuse permanently to the base.
